Reading Won't Burst Your Head!😂

Recently I witnessed two boys in my street hailing another boy in a very dramatic manner. This got my attention and I decided to ask those boys why they were being so dramatic. The response I got was a really funny one. They said, “He loves reading too much, èfiikòò níí.” Immediately, I bursted into laughter but the laughter didn’t end before I realized that “èfiikòò” was the same name I used to be referred to as when I was growing up. De facto, some friends still call me by that name till date.

In my opinion, that behavior and mentality has really caused a lot of damage in our society. Our people think reading is only meant for the nerds. They think that reading is only for people in the academic line. What a wrong notion!

Reading is an essential part of life. It’s one of the major ways of learning in life. I recently watched a show on TV where I saw a wrestler who has a shelf of books in her house and it really piqued my interest. Just imagine, a wrestler reads! But in our world today, the story is quite the opposite. People are often too busy to learn something by reading. A lot of people stopped reading after they finished from school. In fact, during school days, some only read to pass exams and tests. Some even say that if you read too much, your head will burst.👀 (Mtcheeew!) Like books are head inflators.🙄

Please if you are reading this, don’t be like one of those people. Learn to read on a regular basis. There are books for every field or craft you might choose to be. If you read and practice what’s written in those books, you’d save yourself years of hard work. And it won’t burst your head!😂
