The Psychology of Smoking
Back then in my hood, there were some popular guys everyone used to know. They were popular because of a lot of things like truancy, thuggery, noisemaking, and most importantly, addictive smoking. These guys were proud addicted smokers. They could literally smoke for the whole 24 hours in a day and they were very proud of it.
In the street back then, if you were to go out as early as 4am in the morning, you’d find these guys there. The cigarette light is always very obvious during these early hours of the day. You could see the red shining light on their cigarettes miles away when it’s dark especially when they are seated in a group.
While eating, after they take few spoons of the food, they’d smoke a little to step down the food. They repeated it like that until the food is finished. After that, they’ll just go back to their uninterrupted smoking. Food was a hindrance to their smoking behaviors. It was that bad. My mom used to say that those guys must have been birthed with cigarettes in their hands.😂 It was a really serious case.
But that era didn't last long. Five years later, they were all dead. About seven of them. They started dying one after the other due to various health problems caused by incessant smoking. The funniest part of the whole story is that even after they started dying one after the other and medical reports attested that they died due to smoking, the others didn't stop. They continued until they found their own death.
You see when I write about smoking, I do it because I have seen enough to know enough. I have seen how it ended for many addicted smokers and how they caused their families avoidable pain. Asides seeing, I have also studied about the subject. I know what I am writing about really well.
If you are an addicted smoker reading this, there's only one way out for you:
It’s either you stop now or you let the addiction stop your cause on this earth. I wish you clarity in all of your doings.
