Something gave me an epiphany sometime ago. I woke up to find a colony of ants in my room. So I picked up an insecticide and started spraying in a bid to kill them. But the more I sprayed, the more the ants kept coming. They just didn’t reduce one bit. At this time I was getting worked up, imagining what went wrong in my room for these ants to come form a colony there. So I sat and started observing. I noticed that these ants were all marching out of the place where I arranged my books. So I went there and started searching. And finally, I found a dead cockroach hanging somewhere in between the books. The ants were only there to devour the carcass. So I swept out the carcass and in no time the ants were gone. It was really a flabbergasting experience because I never imagined that the ants could be gone so quickly. It seemed like a miracle.
And then I realized that this is a practical example of how we, humans try to solve our everyday problems. We try to solve our problems by the effects and not by the cause. Someone would complain that he dealt with a problem sometime ago and now it has emerged again. The question is “why would a problem emerge again if it were to be truly solved?” It is because that problem was only treated on the surface. Its root still lies somewhere and it will keep on growing unless it is dealt with from the source. The problem was only solved by the effect and not by the cause.
Now how do we get to solve our problems by the cause and not the effect? Let us go back to the story illustrated at the beginning of this article. If you read carefully, you would notice that it got to a point where I just had to sit and observe the whole scenario. Voílá! That’s it. To solve a problem by the cause and not the effect, the first and most important step to take is to sit back and observe carefully. By doing so, we would get to the root of the problem even before panicking.
When we first notice a problem, in most cases what we noticed was only an effect of the problem. And as humans, we tend to react immediately. But it takes some sense of wisdom to be able to sit back and observe for a while before reacting. This quality is a widely known trademark of successful people.
So the next time you are faced with a problem, kindly sit back and observe carefully to know the cause of the problem. The effects which the problem might be showing may seems urgent at that time but you just need to be calm. Just relax and observe. Get to know the root of the matter. Instead of ironing out the effects one after the other, wouldn’t you get to the root of the problem and kill it once and for all? It really pays to solve by the cause and not by the effects. When one solves a problem by the cause, a lasting solution is guaranteed.

God increase yr wisdom...
So so true treating the cause gives a permanent solution (most times)
